About
Michael Mantha

Michael Mantha is a born and bred Northerner who has worked and lived in the North. He never holds back when it comes to sharing his love for Algoma-Manitoulin.

Michael is honoured to represent this region and understands the realities and challenges that Northerners face daily.  One of his main passions is ensuring the year-round safety of our Northern highway. Like all Northerners, he believes that living in the North should not mean the services we receive should be anything less.

He has earned a reputation for listening to what constituents say and is active in all the communities he represents. He regularly makes himself available to meet constituents in person by offering constituency clinics in communities and First Nations throughout the region.

As an MPP, he has introduced several important pieces of legislation, including the removal of the HST from home heating; updating regulations for UTVs; a bill to ensure grandparent rights in child custody matters; legislation to require that all ore from Ontario mines be processed within the province. Of particular note is his Private Member’s Bill, which received unanimous consent calling on the province to develop an integrated strategy to battle Lyme disease.

In the political arena, Michael is well-regarded by his legislative colleagues from all parties. He is known for his compassion, commitment, sense of fair play, and genuine “joie de vivre.”

Michael has a proven record of ensuring the voices of the people of Algoma-Manitoulin are heard at Queen’s Park.
